The SEMO Trombone/Euphonium Studio promotes a nurturing learning environment focused on promoting and establishing strong fundamental musical habits. Here at SEMO, we recognize that patience and diligence is key as we strive for an ever-maturing approach to practice, pedagogy and performance.  The overarching goal for the studio is to produce well-rounded musically astute musicians via a supportive atmosphere.

  Amos Levi Smith    Instrument:  Trombone  Where are you from?   Sikeston, MO   What do you like about playing and studying the Trombone at SEMO?   I enjoy playing, especially when I practice something. The feeling of mastering a piece is unlike anything else. I also really enjoy being around the studio, we all get along pretty well.   What are your goals?   I want to improve as much as possible. I also want to earn my doctorate, and eventually teach at a university.   Fun fact?   I also play ukulele.

Where are you from?

Sikeston, MO

What do you like about playing and studying the Trombone at SEMO?

My goals are to constantly be improving and competing against my peers.   Fun fact?   I love to bake! I make the absolute best pecan pie brownies.

Being a part of a family. The studio is really tight and we’re always there for each other. We even have a game of tag that’s been going on for weeks.

What are you goals?

My goals are to constantly be improving and competing against my peers.

Fun fact?

I love to bake! I make the absolute best pecan pie brownies.

Despite a long history of musical ability in my family, I am the only one so far to officially study music in college.

It’s hard work, but it’s well worth it for how far I’ve come.   What are your goals?   To continue my hard work and hopefully master my instrument one day. I also want to teach and share my passion of music with future generations of musicians.   Fun fact?   I’m a huge fan of classic rock.

Arnold, MO

What do you like about playing and studying the Euphonium at SEMO?

I’m constantly being pushed to improve myself. It’s hard work, but it’s well worth it for how far I’ve come.

What are your goals?

To continue my hard work and hopefully master my instrument one day. I also want to teach and share my passion of music with future generations of musicians.

Fun fact?

I’m a huge fan of classic rock.

My favorite part playing the Euphonium is playing with others! I love every opportunity to play with another Euphonium. They are such beautiful instruments with a dark, singing tone! My favorite part playing the Euphonium is playing with others! I love every opportunity to play with another Euphonium. They are such beautiful instruments with a dark, singing tone!

My goal is to fully understand and master my instrument, and then inspire others to play Euphonium.
